Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer in-person or teletherapy services?

We offer both in-person and teletherapy (online) sessions, depending on client preference and availability. In-person sessions are available in both Manhattan and Brooklyn at the clients home. Teletherapy services are available for students in both New York and New Jersey. All services are delivered with the same high level of engagement and personalized care.

Do you accept insurance?

We are an out-of network benefit provider and therefore accept private pay at this time. However, we are happy to provide superbills for reimbursement purposes.

How long are sessions and how often do they occur?

Sessions are typically 30 to 60 minutes and are scheduled 1-2 times per week, depending on the client's needs. We'll discuss a therapy plan that fits your schedule and goals during your initial consultation.

What therapy approaches or programs do you use?

We integrate a number of evidence-based and client-centered programs, including:

  • Social Thinking®: Supports social awareness, perspective-taking, and relationship-building
  • Zones of Regulation®: Helps individuals understand and regulate emotions and behaviors
  • Story Grammar Marker®: Teaches narrative development and helps with organization of thoughts and ideas
  • PROMPT®: A motor-based approach to improving speech sound production
  • Executive functioning strategies for planning, time management, and working memory.

Therapy is always individualized-these tools are used based on your or your child's specific needs and goals.

What is social communication therapy?

Social communication therapy focuses on skills like understanding nonverbal cues, taking turns in conversation, staying on topic, interpreting other's thoughts and feelings. We use approaches like Social Thinking® and Zones of Regulation® to support students understanding of their social world and how their words and actions impact others.

What is executive functioning therapy?

Executive functioning refers to the mental skills that help us manage time, stay organized, plan ahead, and regulate our behavior. For teens and adults, we offer training and strategies to improve these skills, which can support success in school, work, and daily life.

How do I get started?

Contact us at DPSpeechandLanguage@gmail.com or (908) 616-4483 to schedule an initial consultation. We'll discuss your concerns, goals, and determine the best next steps. From there, we'll create a personalized therapy plan tailored to your needs.
