About DP Speech and Language Services

Hi, I’m Disha Patel, a licensed speech-language pathologist with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals with a variety of communication needs. I earned my Bachelor of Science from the University of Connecticut and my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from New York Medical College. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in private practice and currently serve as a school-based speech therapist with the New York City Department of Education.

I specialize in working with school-aged children and adolescents, and also have experience supporting college students. My approach draws on a range of evidence-based methods including Social Thinking®, PROMPT therapy, stuttering modification, articulation and phonological therapy, Zones of Regulation®, executive functioning strategies, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). I believe in building meaningful relationships with my clients and tailoring therapy to meet each individual’s needs.

 I currently live in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Franklin Park, New Jersey. When I'm not at work you’ll find me jogging through Brooklyn Bridge Park, testing new recipes from my favorite food blogs, or getting lost in a good book at a cozy Brooklyn café.
